Lackadaisy: Trailer Released For Animated Short Film

A brand-new trailer for an upcoming animated short film entitled Lackadaisy is slated to drop in March 2023 inspired by the webcomic of the same name. The short film is being created by Iron Circus Comics which is being directed by Fable Siegel and created by Tracy J. Butler.

We actually posted the announcement of it’s Kickstart a couple of years ago of which the film was fully-funded.

Synopsis:

Saint Louis, Missouri, 1920. Prohibition, the Constitutional ban on the sale of alcohol in the United States, comes into effect…. And business couldn’t be better at the Little Daisy Cafe.

But things aren’t what they seem. Atlas May, proprietor, uses the charming little restaurant as a front for his real cash cow; the Lackadaisy speakeasy, where flashing the club symbol from a deck of cards grants everykitty in-the-know access to more moonshine than they could ever drink. Life is good… Until Atlas is murdered in cold blood.

Now, it’s 1927. Mitzi, Atlas’ widow, struggles to keep Lackadaisy afloat, as the patrons drift away and a skeleton crew of staff sticks by her side. Scrappy young musician/rum-runner Rocky Rickaby, his wide-eyed but tightly-wound cousin Freckle McMurray, and the endlessly resourceful and sharp-tongued Ivy Pepper, heiress to the quickly-dwindling Lackadaisy fortune, are forced to make do in a world of increasingly unfriendly competition, intent on shooting, smuggling, and conspiring their way back to a successful bar, against all odds.
