Overview:
The Soul Society’s Department of Research & Development is observing a sudden surge in the number of Hollows being destroyed in the World of the Living, raising concerns among staff.
Our Take:
Now that was a slow burn. After a decade since the last episode aired Bleach makes a return and it is more than a welcome one. As much as I love the original series I’m almost tempted to beg for a remake in this style because the animation was so sharp and crisp. But I am just grateful that we get this series and will hopefully get it finished after so long.
Some technical things when it comes to the voice work is that luckily almost all of the voice actors are back to reprise their roles. So far the only ones I have seen different are Vic Mignogna is not back as Ikkaku for reasons that I feel most anime fans know. Also Jamieson Price is not back as Chad and I actually respect his reasoning. He has stopped auditioning for roles of people of color so the role was recast with Alain Mesa taking up the mantle and just like Chad is of Mexican heritage.
Everyone else so far is back and I got goosebumps hearing Johnny Yong Bosch say “Getsuga Tenshou” and about lost my mind when I got to hear him say “Bankai!” This was such a fantastic first episode that it ended in a flash. I was rather late to the Bleach game so my wait wasn’t nearly as long as some fans I know but it has definitely become a favorite and I can’t wait to see where it goes. In fact, the only downside to it is that it is definitely not newbie friendly. Do not let this be your first taste of Bleach.
