English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “March of the Starcross”

Overview:

Ichigo and his friends arrive in Hueco Mundo to confront Quilge Opie and learn that their latest enemy is Quincies.

Our Take:

Just when I think that Bleach can’t get any better it decides to prove me wrong. This episode was absolutely phenomenal. I thought we were going to get a long drawn-out typical shonen fight with Quilge but it gets handled in a pretty reasonable fashion. Not that Bleach has never done that before, it has some rather long fights in its many episodes. But if the pacing keeps up like this for the rest of this arc I think we are in for a great time.

The animation continues to impress and it is such an exciting thing to experience every week. Sure I haven’t been waiting as long as most but getting to see these characters get new life with modern-day animation techniques are such a treat. I am especially excited for the next episode because it seems one of the attacking Quincies is voiced by Robbie Daymond. At least that is who it sounded like to me.

I know I mentioned the gore and stuff last week but it seems like they are going to keep stepping it up. For a second I thought I was watching a war movie or something because some of these guys get really messed up. If this is what we can expect from the Quincies I think it’s going to be a long and bloody battle. Guess that’s why they call it the “Thousand-Year Blood War” huh?
