Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match Will Arrive in 2023 With Joel McHale Returning As Johnny Cage

The news was announced during the New York Comic Con 2022 panel for Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind has been released on the same day that Mortal Kombat is celebrating its 30th anniversary. MK Animated film series producer Rick Morales was on hand to confirm that Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match will be the fourth entry in the animated film series in 2023 which was confirmed in a tweet straight from the panel itself.

No further details were given for this new MK Legends film, but it looks to put a big focus on McHale’s Johnny Cage as his name is in the title. McHale first voiced Johnny Cage in 2020’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge and returned for another round in 2021’s  Battle of the Realms. He was absent from Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind, but will once again lend his voice to the character in this new film.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind releases on October 11th, and follows Kano on a “brutal journey to take over Earthrealm.” To do so, however, he will have to face off against Kenshi and Kuai Liang, the current Sub-Zero.

Our Take

Given that Snow Blind takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting in the far future, I wasn’t expecting another MK Animated film in the form of Snow Blind, but I’m all for another one if Joel McHale is involved as he was one of the best things about the first two Animated movies.

I just hope they find some way for the plot to coherently make sense due to “Battle of the Realms” sort of ending the major conflict that was previously resolved with a clear sense of finality, but we here at Bubbleblabber.com will give further updates as they happen.
