English Dub Review: My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World! “The Revelation Came True”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

The battle between Yuji and Walter begins in earnest, but that is only the beginning.

Our Take:

The stage is set for the final confrontation between the powerful sage and the Blue Moon cult leader! While it seems like an easy fight regarding Yuji’s profound abilities and his monsters’ armor, his opponent thinks otherwise. Using the machine, Walter infuses his body with Dragon Grace, transforming himself into a massive dragon.

Luckily for us, Walter’s dragon form isn’t enough to overcome Yuji’s power, and he is defeated after an enticing fight. But not before his machine absorbed his corpse, his monsters, and Johann to bring forth a one-eyed man named Sage. Sage happens to be the original emissary that’ll be victorious instead of Yuji, and Walter’s death is actually the key to his destiny. With Sage on the loose, Yuji attempts to confront him, not knowing that he has finally met his match.

If there’s one skill My Isekai Life is still a master at, it’s the boss fights. Despite the battles not being memorable regarding their presentations and stakes, they provide enough flashy visuals and fantasy action to deliver some entertainment values for me. They also offer a challenge for Yuji compared to his ordinary tasks, even though it takes him a couple of minutes to defeat the bosses. Unsurprisingly, the fights in “The Revelation Came True” is no different, with enough visual flair to emphasize the magical showdowns.

Fortunately, the episode’s second half manages to increase the show’s stakes, thanks to the arrival of Sage. With Sage’s powers being similar to Yuji’s, it resembles Yuji fighting another version of himself, meaning his skills might not be enough to defeat Sage. Unfortunately, it took us ten episodes filled with formulaic plot points to get to that part, which may not suit well for those who’ve already given up on the show before that section. However, the others that haven’t, including me, will be treated to a penultimate showdown that’s a tad more enticing than the others before it.

“The Revelation Came True” may not fix its formulaic structure, but it delivers some entertaining action that’s a bit longer and more intense than the other boss fights. With the season reaching its end, this is far from a surprise. This is also the episode where the voice acting starts to lose more of its momentum. Steyl’s growl at the beginning sounded more humorous than convincing, and some of the dialogue delivery was sometimes a bit forced. Other than that, it does its job of delivering two challenging fights between Yuji and his formidable foes, especially Sage.
