English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “One’s Justice”

Overview:

Inside Gunga Villa, the Paranormal Liberation Front realizes that they are under attack, and Twice confronts Hawks about his betrayal.

Our Take:

I’ll admit that I love Hawks, he’s one of my favorite pro heroes but it’s kind of hard to be on his side for this one. One thing this series does amazingly well is its nuanced characters. Sure, Twice is a villain but he is incredibly relatable. He just wants to be happy and make sure the people he cares about are happy too. This is probably the point where I would say My Hero Academia starts to take a darker turn.

I do have to address some technical stuff and it feels like stuff I have addressed previously all the time with Crunchyroll. This is my first time watching My Hero Academia on Crunchyroll, previously, I always watched on Funimation. Crunchyroll does not get their screencaps up in time for the episodes. When things pop up on the screen that displays either text messages, info we should know, or just the fun stuff telling us characters’ names and quirks. It’s been a problem since the merger and I hope it gets remedied when Crunchyroll becomes the only option.

Technical issues aside I do have to say this was a fantastic episode if not a depressing one. But hey good art can be depressing as well right? We’re ramping up to the heavy stuff now and I don’t think anyone wants to be missing it. I think it goes without saying that if you haven’t watched the previous seasons this is not where you want to pick it up but this show is well worth the investment for how good it is.
