English Dub Review: Lycoris Recoil “So far, so good”

Overview

The client this time is Matsushita, a man whose body is connected to a machine. Knowing his time is short, Matsushita returns to his homeland of Japan for some sightseeing. Chisato and Takina, who were requested as bodyguards and guides, go all out to support Matsushita’s Tokyo sightseeing tour! Meanwhile, Takina learns a curious fact about Chisato!?

Our Take

There were so many interesting questions posed this week, and my head is honestly trying to comprehend all of them. But most importantly, I appreciated how inquisitive Takina was in this episode. She along with the audience just want answers about Chisato’s artificial heart which are very legit questions at this point that have yet to be unraveled.

From what we can gather, Chisato in regards to her artificial heart was a surgical process that came from a mysterious organization called the Alan Institute that Yoshimatsu seems to have ties with. And given whatever they did for Chisato, it makes you wonder what their endgame is and what the Alan Institute themselves truly wants from her.

Overall, I liked how each episode started out feeling like a filler episode, only for it to end up connected to the main plot. And this artificial heart twist may play a significant role in later storylines but it seems to be a lot of mysteries going on. I was also caught off guard with that last scene regarding a random Lycoris being attacked by that green-haired-looking dude which was easily one of the more brutal moments in the show so far. With the Alan Institute ramping things up, something is bound to happen…
