Season Review: DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Book Three

Overview:

The third (and maybe final?) season of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood where all of reality is at risk, but will the heroes come out of it in one piece?

Our Take:

There are a couple of things I want to get off of my chest when it comes to this show. 1) I love it, it just kept building and building and did nothing but get better. Which is more than I can ask for a show based on a video game. Video game adaptions don’t have a very good history of being good. While this won’t go down as the best by any means, it was better than many have done. Also, 2) For a lot of it I have no idea what is going on. There is a lot of timey wimey stuff that happens while also including other dimensions so it isn’t hard to get lost. But I think that just lends itself to rewatches which I definitely won’t mind doing.

Studio Mir has phenomenal animators and I have become a lifelong fan. I will watch anything they put out at this point. Which I am not sure includes another season for this show. The ending to this felt very definitive and they did an end credits like we were saying goodbye to these characters. But if I’m not mistaken it seemed like Mirana was doing the classic “I am with child” gesture on her stomach so who knows, maybe we will get a season of her and her child if that does end up being the case. There is plenty in the DOTA world I imagine that they could keep going. One thing I was unsure about was if Kaden was Davion’s father. The hints were there that it definitely seemed like he is and that would be interesting.

I hope this isn’t the end of this series. It has been a show I look forward to and it was one of the first things I reviewed when I started at Bubbleblabber so I have some sentimental feelings when it comes to this series. If this is the end it was a doozy and well worth your time. I hope this show has shown Netflix not to give up on their animation studios just yet.
