Overview (Spoilers Below):

The Wurst Job

Ronnie Anne lands the internship of a lifetime with Bruno, but she is worried about it.

The Sound of Meddle

Dreaming of being the DJ at the Gatos halftime show, Carl goes undercover with Alexis and the school band.

Our Take:

The humor in the first episode consists of Ronnie Anne becoming Bruno’s intern at his hot dog stand during Internship Week. Unfortunately, her new temporary job isn’t what she thought it would be, as Ronnie Anne grows exhausted with waking up early, sampling hot dogs, and selling them during lunch hour. She even had a nightmare about being a hot dog. So she made up a lie about Bobby breaking his arm to get off of work. However, her next shift happens to be the hot dog eating contest. So when she sees Bruno struggling to keep up with the hot dogs, Ronnie Anne springs into action to help him finish the contest.

For its second episode, the plot sees Carl attempting to become a DJ at the halftime show. However, he would have to play in the Junior High band to make his dream a reality. When a miscommunication with Sergio ruins the band’s performance, Carl is forced to forego his DJ dream to set things right for his friend Alexis and the band.

The humor in this episode consists of Carl searching for the right instrument to play in the band since he’s horrible at playing the bassoon. Unfortunately, his failed attempts with each instrument injured the same student every time. He eventually wound up with the triangle, as it is the only harmless thing they could find at short notice. There were also some humorous moments involving Alexis getting core muscles from carrying his tuba and Carl being chased by the soccer players after locking them in the locker room.

Overall, the episodes are a set of entertaining scenarios filled with hot dogs and band meddling. “The Wurst Job” is neither the “wurst” episode nor the best episode. However, it respectfully showcases the difficulty and importance of a person’s internship. “The Sound of Meddle” is another decent Carl-centered episode that sees him learning to care for others’ needs instead of his own while infiltrating the school band.
