English Dub Season Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Season Three

Overview:

The third season of the giant space opera continues with political espionage and a battle that could change everything.

Our Take:

Honestly one of the worst parts about this anime was that it ended. But luckily, there will be a fourth season. I don’t want to speak for the studio but it’s looking like they are going with a massive undertaking and remaking the whole series. That is A LOT of episodes but they are doing an amazing job so far. I am kind of a sucker for older animation styles but unfortunately, the previous series was never dubbed. Still worth watching in my opinion but this one is getting there. The animation is fantastic and the space fight scenes are some of the best I’ve seen anywhere.

The voice cast is one of the better ones I’ve heard as well. Ian Sinclair as Yang in particular was really well done. Ian can always do a great sarcastic tone but there are times when Yang has to be a little serious as well. Ian brings a lot of those scenes to life in the best way possible. But I have to give a special shoutout to Matt Shipman, who already had a fairly big character to portray but had to take up for Aaron Dismuke when he was on rest. Matt had to take over as one of the bigger characters in Reinhard von Lohengramm. Another example of the voice actor community stepping up to help each other and I love it.

There was one other minor issue I had with this season and that was that it ended in THE worst spot possible. We are pretty much right in the middle of the biggest battle to date in the series and it just ended. That is going to knock a point or two off in my book but with the fourth season on the way, it’s somewhat forgivable. If you love epic sci-fi in the flavor of Game of Thrones you should definitely keep this one on your list.
