English Dub Review: Overlord: “Re-Estize Kingdom”

Overview

Albedo personally makes her way to the Re-Estize Kingdom as an envoy of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Meanwhile, the people of Re-Estize continue to do what they can to recover from the recent war and prepare for the future. Though not everyone has peace in mind…

Our Take

The new intro/opening by the band “OxT” was really nice and well animated, though it looks like it’s filled with potential spoilers. Either way, I’m looking forward to it. I’m especially interested in seeing how far the humans will get against the people of Nazarick, and I continue to find it frustrating that everyone seems to be plotting a war against Ainz and that no one bothers to even consider some sort of diplomatic agreement with the Sorcerer Kingdom (a legit one, that is). However, it is understandable since many of them are well aware of the magical massacre he did at the end of season 3. I just hope that at least one human outside of the village tries to actually be genuine.

As for Albedo, she looked nice in her dress. I’m just surprised she had enough sense to not kill everyone in that room, namely a newly introduced character named Phillip who comes across as an aristocratic douchebag who thinks he can easily get with Albedo which even Hilma thinks he’s playing with fire in a proverbial sense… I was even surprised at the end when Albedo and Princess Renner in the post-credits scene were talking, and makes you wonder how long Princess Renner’s been carefully planning this shit out with the Sorcerer Kingdom, and if she has some sort of role to play for sake of fulfilling her twisted obsession with her personal bodyguard named “Climb” who remains oblivious on the type of twisted individual Renner really is…

Overall, I was at first hesitant with the first episode but this one sets up some interesting plot points. Sometimes, when the show begins to focus on side characters instead of the Nazarick crew and by extension the “Sorceror kingdom”, it shows really interesting and unique perspectives to see the effects of Ainz Ooal Gown and his actions through other points of view. I also think the new character Phillip is very interesting to me, and I’m curious to see what role he’ll later play into the plot and whether or not Albedo will punish the shit out of him just for touching her shoulder out of the blue.
