Review: The Loud House “A Bug’s Strife; All the Rage”

Overview

“A Bug’s Strife”
Dad tears the house apart trying to find the cricket ruining his peaceful day alone in the house…

“All the Rage”
Tired of getting pummeled during dodgeball, Lincoln and the gang use Clyde’s untapped rage without him knowing…

Our Take

For the first episode, the primary focus this time around is the Loud family patriarch, Lynn Loud Sr. (Not to be confused with their sports-obsessed daughter “Lynn”) having the house to himself through manipulative means. Of course, this predictably doesn’t last due to encountering the one thing ruining his moment of quietness which is a tiny cricket leading to a “comedy of errors” of sorts…

As for 2nd one, the focus is on Clyde and his circle of friends whom due to some contrived situation involving dodgeball, are forced to find manipulative ways to piss Clyde off which becomes their secret weapon against various rival players in Dodgeball, with one of his sources of anger being a frequent reminder of something bad that happened in his favorite reality cooking show “Operation Dessert Storm”, but the real challenge is figuring out other ways to trigger Clyde’s anger as an edge against the rival teams?

Overall, both episodes were fun and simple in their execution. The first one felt like a kid-friendly version of the Beavis and Butt-Head episode “Die Fly Die!” where the entire story was built around the physical comedy of trying to kill a tiny insect, while the 2nd episode was mostly funny yet slightly contrived due to the frequent times the kids were subjected to playing dodgeball for one reason or another. The only thing these two episodes had in common was the introduction of a fictional Iron Chef-style reality show “Operation Dessert Storm” that may play a possible role in future storylines given Clyde and Lynn Sr’s equal love of cooking…
