Our Take

For the first episode, the heart of the story is about Gerry and Clara’s mutual affection for one another which based on observation, doesn’t go any further than it should for a relationship to progress. This causes Annie and Pony to take it upon themselves to try and play cupid and make them a legit couple. There was also a running joke that this romantic letter Gerry wanted to write instantly charmed anyone who reads it followed by some saxophone music in the background that wants to be “Careless whisper” with the way it sounded, followed by a series of Alien/UFO jokes that had hilarious consequences…

As for the 2nd episode, the humor’s focus this time around involves their conspiracy theorist food truck guy’s desire to capture a creature in a small lake that in a series of elaborate twists has sort of a connection with Heston with parts of the story almost feeling like it’s attempting to parody “Free Willy” and it even shows a creative side of Pony when you see what he does with a Dumpster…

Overall, both episodes were passable in terms of physical comedy, but shared the common themes of myths and legends. In terms of relationships, Annie and Pony should just stay out of Gerry & Clara’s business, but at least it gave me a small chuckle during the proceedings when it parodied “Area 51” with their version of that particular organization. While the other played into the myths and legends aspect that crypto-zoologists tend to have a proverbial hard-on for when it comes to sightings of strange creatures. I also loved the creativity of Pony in what he modified the Dumpster into as it’s something I wouldn’t have ever thought about…
