Review: It’s Pony “City Pony; Country Pony”

Overview

Annie worries that Pony has become too citified and jumps at the chance for the family to move to a real farm in the country…

Our Take

For once we get an episode that’s primarily a two-part story with a consistent narrative as opposed to the two episode structured that most cartoon shows have often adopted over the past few decades. This time around, the heart of the story being that Annie wanting to give Pony the proper exposure to going out into the country side thanks to Annie’s great uncle/George’s uncle Fitzroy doing a “property-swap”

Of course many of the jokes were a bit on the nose in terms of being your by-the-numbers fish out water gags. With several separate subplots, such as the only downside so far on Annie’s end is almost not having the ability to use her smartphone or anything Wi-Fi given that most Wi-Fi signals aren’t easily picked up in rural areas, while Annie’s parents facing their own struggles adjusting to this new lifestyle in different and comedic ways which hilariously leads to some unexpected and hilarious consequences.

Overall this was a passable two part episode that shockingly felt like one episode but I think that was the point. Many of the jokes did give me a chuckle here and there but it also proves that you can take the Pony out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the Pony.
