Our Take

For the first episode, The humor mostly comes from Alvin’s attempt to help get Dave out of his writer’s block which at first sounds like a decent endeavor on Alvin’s end, however, Alvin while his methods were well-intentioned as usually doesn’t go the way he envisioned due to a series of mishaps and miscommunication

As for 2nd one, much of the humor comes from Alvin trying to avoid trouble as usual with him accidentally fucking with Dave’s computer and finding a manipulative way to trick Theodore into not saying anything claiming The Jinx Spirit” would get him. I think the funniest moment to me was a scene when Elenor expressed’s concern and her words are verbatim of a nightmare Theodore had.

Overall, both episodes were serviceable in terms of how both stories played out. Alvin as usual is the troublemaker who drives the story, but at the very least, his antics this time were mildly entertaining. I think the whole “Jinxed” thing wouldn’t have happened arguably if Alvin got his own laptop. I do like that the show doesn’t shy away from the technological updates we have such as smartphones and laptops, which also emphasized how smart Simon was in fixing one during the episode’s proceedings.
