Review: Alvinnn!!! And The Chipmunks “The Party Animals; Warren Seville”

Overview

“The Party Animals”

“Warren Seville”

Theodore invents an imaginary friend to cope with not having his plush friend…

Our Take

For the first episode, Alvin ambitiously wants to do a birthday party gigs and various other side-hustles with him, his brother’s and the chippette’s singing skills which kinda makes sense. Yet learns the hard way that when going to said place to actually learn what the job description is specifically. Especially when things don’t completely work in their favor when they’re reduced to being petting zoo animals whom despite being sentient talking animal people aren’t treated with any sort of respect or dignity leading them to form an escape plan…

As for the other one, the focus this time around is Alvin’s attempt to help Theodore grow as a person when he steals away his beloved plush pet “Talking Teddy” that Alvin perceives as the subject of public embarrassment and hates when Dave often takes Theodore’s side due to being the youngest of the three. Of course things don’t completely work in Alvin’s favor when Theodore finds a way to fill that void by making up an imaginary friend named “Warren” to help him get through the week which is not what Alvin envisioned…

Overall, both episodes were passable. The first half involved Alvin’s attempt at side-hustling blowing up in his face, while the other involved Theodore trying to find ways to cope with his shy, insecure personality. Though I’m surprised the amount of effort the show tries to further flesh them out it’s characters in a modernized setting without resorting to the low-brow humor the live action films which often did with mostly involved toilet humor…
