Review: Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks “Fire Safety; Castle Catastrophe”

Overview

“Fire Safety”
When the girls at school develop a crush on the fire marshal, Alvin decides to be a hero with disastrous results…

“Castle Catastrophe”
After causing an accident at a historic castle, Cheesy and Alvin work as medieval re-enactors to pay for the damage…..

Our Take

For the first episode, the humor as usual comes from Alvin’s ego and desire to be the center of attention and attempts in doing so after his class meets a fire marshal who encourages fire safety and a “fire plan” which is played out with a special display consisting of holographic projections that are meant to recreate houses on fire and train people in fire safety scenarios. This all seems rational and simple, at least until Alvin begins to take the fire safety stuff seriously to a detrimental fault just to impress the ladies with predictably disastrous and hilarious consequences…

As for 2nd one, a lot of the humor comes from situational and physical comedy as a large mishap on Alvin’s classmate named “Cheesy” ends up getting both him and Alvin in trouble resulting in Alvin playing a “Servant” for Cheesy in the Medieval reenactment event they have going on, of course, Alvin for once is less of a selfish jerk in this one…

Overall, both episodes were passable. The first one gave me a good laugh on how much of an Ego Alvin seems to have when it comes to attention-seeking. You’d think with his pseudo-celebrity status with Dave as their dad/manager, he and his brothers would already be famous to some degree as singers. As for the other episode, I’m surprised a medieval renaissance-like place would even have clothing to accommodate Alvin given how small he is, but the ending gave me a good chuckle in places.
