Our Take

Xiuying Hong faces Dou Niu and the other Yellow Heads gang members, but it’s obvious that they captured Yuanda Zhu and fled away. Ryo now has no choice but to face Xiuying herself just for the chance to face Lan Di, and enquire the help of Joy and the others to get Zhu back in storming the Yellow Heads HQ.

From an old man testing Ryo’s fight in the darkness, to the Yellow Heads’ underground fights for a one-way ticket into infiltrating gang territory, everything must be seamless. But we also learn a bit about Joy’s past and her family’s former ties with the Yellow Heads which explains her apprehension to help at one point…

Overall, this was a solid episode, it’s clear that we’re heading towards the Season finale with only two episodes left. And I’m wondering how the pacing will be handled down the stretch. Seems like a lot to wrap up in a couple of episodes given that this is taking place within the storyline of Shenmue II, So I’m curious how it will seamlessly transition to Shenmue 3 with Ryo later meeting Shenhua since it took so long for Ryo to eventually meet Ren.
