English Dub Review: Kaguya-sama: Love is War “Miko Iino Wants to Be Soothed/ Kaguya Doesn’t Realize/ Chika Fujiwara Wants to Battle”

Overview:

After finally making her long-awaited smartphone debut, Kaguya relentlessly contemplates over how to respond to Shirogane’s LINE message. As Hayasaka watches over, she realizes that Kaguya is not aware of the “read receipt” function…

Our Take:

Ishigami is probably the biggest bro to ever exist and Iino doesn’t even know it. He was willing to fall on his sword and be embarrassed so Iino could realize her mistake. I truly feel sorry for Ishigami, the guy is just too nice.

I don’t know about everyone else but I needed this show to get dubbed as quickly as it has. Life can be tough and sometimes we need some great comedy to help us get through stuff. I truly believe that Kaguya-sama: Love is War will go down as one of the comedy greats in the anime world. This is one of the few shows I do prefer the sub but these dub actors are putting in the work.

Shoutout to Clifford Chapin for filling in for Aaron Dismuke who normally voices Shirogane. Aaron is on vocal rest at the moment and something tells me that Clifford knows what that’s like. With how much he screams playing Bakugo in My Hero Academia I am sure he’s feeling for Aaron at the moment. Everyone does a great job and one of the biggest things in a comedic show like this is timing. Austin Tindle has that in spades with how he voices Ishigami, I laughed so hard within the first five minutes. Don’t get me started on how great Ian Sinclair is as the narrator. He puts his own spin on things sure but it just adds to the charm. I am so glad the student council is back, let’s go Shuchi’in Academy.
