English Dub Review: Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest “A New Vow”

Overview

Several days have passed since Hajime and his party returned safely from the Sunken Ruins of Melusine. although Hajime knows he needs to get going, he apprehensively doesn’t want to break Myu’s heart…

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, with Hajime and his crew back to the mer-town of Erisen to recoup, this felt like an obligatory beach-themed episode. Understandably, Hajime and the gang can’t really stay for long, and sooner than later they would have to leave Myu behind with her mother for her own safety, which she just easily gives in like a child waiting upon her parents. Predictably, a farewell dinner and a “see you again” are the only hopes that Myu really hopes to see them again after their own faraway journey.

Back on the other subplot, Ms. Aiko is now kidnapped by a psycho-nun on the Divine Mountain and signals the start of the Demon Lord’s count, with the Heiligh Kingdom prepared psychologically but not physically mess with with Aiko’s students, and to put it mildly, things aren’t looking so good.

Overall the stories seems to be picking up at a decent pace, and with Myu finally back with her mother, It remains uncertain of we’ll ever see her again. But at the very least, Hajime is the kinda guy who commits’ to his word once he makes it. As for the church subplot, it still remains to be seen how Hajime will know what’s going on in a effort to narratively bridge both storylines together, but let’s hope it actually leads to something…
