Review: Middlemost Post “They’re All Named Reggie; The Same Ol’ Same”

Overview

“They’re All Named Reggie”

After a delivery round in Purpleton, the postmen find a stowaway: Baby Reggie Parker feels desperate and wants to bring him home…

“The Same Ol’ Same”
When a famous rapper named “Old Skool” comes to Middlemost, Parker gives him a new lease on life.

Our Take

For the first episode, much of the humor came from the bizarre nature and juxtaposition of Parker and Angus interacting with the people of the town of Purpleton which apparently has a strange creepy nature about it such as the fact everyone’s named “Reggie”.  It’d be simpler if the women in Purpleton at least were named “Regina” to clarify who’s who gender-wise at least. We even learn about 3 Rules Angus lives by anytime he even sets foot in town that judging from Paker’s interactions with the people there seem evidence to the contrary.

As for the 2nd episode, much of the humor and drama comes from a Rapper’s Stigma of people forever associating him with a particular song and the annoyance of audiences forcing him to replay it, as opposed to caring about any new material they may have recently made. It’s an actual problem most artists face when meeting their fans, but with the help of Parker, he kinda helps him understand that not every town is the same which gives him the inspiration he needs.

Overall, both were watchable episodes that managed to have some meaningful messages here and there, One of them being that it’s not always a crime to ask for help despite what dangers you encounter, we even get a random live-action shot of John Dimaggio’s actual face in one scene which was easily one of the highlights of this episode. As for the rap episode, what I can take from it the most is how it sort of attempts to humanize celebrities, especially singers/artists. It’s great to be known for that one song, but most artists need encouragement to grow and do different things if they want to be creative. And nowhere was that conveyed than the 2nd episode…
