Review: Looney Tunes Cartoons Valentine’s Extwavaganza!

Love is in the air, and the wacky toons love nothing more than to get into some more crazy shenanigans. Looney Tunes Cartoons started 2022 on a good note with its fourth season. It may not be big on character variety, but I admittedly had a good time watching more of its zany antics. Now, the show is looking to continue its streak with its latest multi-episode special, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Valentine’s Extwavaganza special consists of three brand new shorts involving different characters doing crazy things when they’re in love. The first two episodes feature Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, while the last short features Bugs Bunny. First, “Duck Chocolate” has Porky Pig delivering a box of chocolates to Petunia, but Daffy has his eyes set on eating his sweets. Then, we have the Daffy Traffic Cop Stop short, “Lead Foot”, which has Daffy being pulled over by Officer Porky. Finally, “Bunny and the Beast” involves Bugs being romanticized by a lady gorilla whose heart is as huge as her size.

Like the previous episodes and the specials that came before it, the Valentine’s Extwavaganza episode features enough charm and humor in its plots and slapstick animation to maintain its love for the iconic characters. My only issue was that it plays out like a typical episode regarding the three-short structure like the “Back to School” special. With how funny these shorts are, it’s pretty criminal not to have more episodes involving several characters finding love in different places. But, at least it didn’t cheat on me by offering a repackaged short like what the “Back to School” special did in the show’s second season.

Out of the three new shorts in the looney Valentine’s Day package, I would have to say that I enjoy “Bunny and the Beast” the most. The Bugs Bunny short is a clever and hilarious twist on Warner Brothers’ “MonsterVerse” that features lady versions of King Kong and Godzilla falling in love with Bugs. “Duck Chocolate” is my second favorite due to Daffy’s sneaky attempts to eat Porky’s chocolates. It is then followed by the Daffy Traffic Cop Stop short. It started out funny with Daffy’s foot being a literal lead foot and replacing Porky’s face with his own. Then it ended on a weird note with the two Daffys being married with kids.

Overall, Looney Tunes Cartoons Valentine’s Extwavaganza is another enjoyable special that offers nothing but love for its characters and zany scenarios. It may not have more content like the Bugs Bunny’s 24-Carrot Holiday Special in season one, but it still delivers enough laughs and wackiness to compensate. I would even say it’s a solid early Valentine’s Day gift for a special someone who also adores watching the Looney Tunes.
