Our Take

For the first episode, much of the humor came from a comedy of errors as Pony’s well-intentioned actions as usual creates a chain reaction of awkward & chaotic moments with his makeshift ride made up of parts from a Junkyard just to visit their rich friend Clara who seems more likable than her older snobby jerk of a brother. Predictably, the hijinx ensues when each of Annie’s friends who are in Pony’s car with her has their own quirks that almost screw up everything, but in the end, it leads to a bit of a funny twist.

As for the 2nd episode, it was a bit of a slow-burn until Annie hired one of her friends as “captain” to sort of re-marry his parents that lead to some wacky moments due to some clever word-play, but the story didn’t really pick up until they went to see Annie’s parents on their job at the marketplace. There was even a chase scene near the end, but in a weird way it worked itself out.

Overall, both episodes were wacky and fun but in different ways. At times the humor was fast-paced, the jokes were sometimes a mixed bag yet sometimes cliche, but at the very least, none of it felt as contrived as I thought it would…
