English Dub Review: The Detective Is Already Dead “Those Dizzying Three Years I Spent with You”

Our Take:

Well, it’s finally over, the show that started in the summer of 2021 has wrapped up its dub. The word that I can think of that best describes it is “disappointing”. It started with so much promise and the animation in the first episode was absolutely stunning. But instead, we ended up with an incoherent mess and lackluster animation. Didn’t mean to spoil my season review there.

I will say this episode did bring the standard of the animation back up to a respectable level. Seems like they may be spent all the budget on the first and final episodes. The big action set piece with Chameleon was really well animated. But the plot is just so disjointed it’s hard to keep straight. From what I have read of the light novel that makes way more sense than what happens here. I think they just wanted to jam too much into twelve episodes.
