English Dub Review: Sakugan “LADIES & GENTLEMEN”

Overview:

Gagumber and Memempu are arrested in the colony of Jolly-Jolly. They’re allowed out for sightseeing while their punishment is determined, but a chance encounter with a woman named Zackletu leads them to bigger trouble!

Our Take:

This just in Zackletu is a force to be reckoned with and will almost definitely be heard from again. She just exudes main character energy and if she doesn’t join Gagumber and Memempu I will be severely disappointed. Plus we could use a love interest for Gagumber.

If I’m not mistaken it sounded a lot like Cristina Valenzuela voicing Zackletu. No confirmation as of yet but it sounded like her and I think she would be a great fit for the character. I think Lucien Dodge made an appearance in this episode as well voicing the guy about to torture poor Gagumber with the dreaded number 8. All I know is that the device did not look like it would be any fun.

The world-building was really good in this episode. Gave me a lot of questions that I want to keep watching to see the answers to. Like is the colony Jolly-Jolly just based on Italy or did the world we know get sunk underground? I have questions now and that was one of the things Sakugan was missing. In regards to Memempu’s mom we got a little clarity I suppose. She essentially said that she left Gagumber cause he was useless or something along those lines. I hope there will be more to it later but we will see I suppose.

As the world opens up more and more Sakugan gets more interesting and I look forward to seeing where this goes. But keep in mind that Zackletu is the best and we need more of her. Though what is with the way characters are named in this? I mean is it too much to ask for a normal name? Zackletu… you gotta be kidding me…
