English Dub Review: Restaurant to Another World “Children’s Lunch/ Cream Croquette”

Overview:

A half-elf witch takes her niece and nephew to the restaurant to experience other-worldly cuisine. Two enterprising halflings indulge in cream croquettes.

Our Take:

I love me some isekai but this is my first time watching Restaurant to Another World.  I got to say this show is absolutely adorable. It’s like a fun cooking show with fantasy characters. Couple it with beautiful animation and great voice acting and you got a winner.

Some of the voice talents include Jill Harris, Chris S. Sabat, Monica Rial, and Jad Saxton that I heard in this episode. Jill Harris plays the waitress Aletta and lets her bubbly side shine. It’s always fun to hear her get to just have fun. Jad Saxton as doting aunt Victoria was a bit different but enjoyable. Chris S. Sabat as a chef is somehow not surprising at all. Just imagine All Might making your meal.

The first half was the aforementioned Victoria taking her niece and nephew to the restaurant. She seemed a bit estranged from them based on what their mother told them but I wasn’t too sure. Either way, it was both cute and sad seeing her get flustered about how to be a good aunt and set the right standard for them.

In the second half, I was a bit confused because I was like “Dang these kids can eat!” then I realized they weren’t kids they were halflings. I then remembered watching The Lord of the Rings and it all made sense. It was also really cool to see that was how they got new ideas for their own culinary adventures.

Definitely, a cute episode that was a lot of fun. A bit whimsical and a tiny bit bittersweet. Just enough to warm the heart in time for the holidays.
