English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “When You Surround an Army, Leave an Outlet Free”

Overview:

Under Gaius’s command, the Amidonian army launches a full-scale attack to retake Van, but Souma and his forces move to stop them. In the aftermath of the war, there are serious consequences to be faced and plans for reconciliation to be put in place.

Our Take:

That’s one way to end a war quickly. Souma continues to win over everyone with his brilliance including his enemies. When even the leader of an enemy nation says you are a good leader I think that really speaks volumes to your character. One thing we all know however is the hardest part about war isn’t necessarily winning it but what comes after. So I am looking forward to seeing what Souma does in that regard.

I really like how he uses non-traditional things to try and ease any misgivings people might have about him. When in doubt put on a music program so people’s fears can be alleviated. Juna of course sang but he also let a soldier sing the Amidonian national anthem to show that he did not have any ill will towards them. He wanted the people to see that it’s alright to enjoy things from anywhere.

The animation was not super great for the fight scenes but I’ve seen worse. There is one episode left but don’t be worried there is part two coming in January and I imagine it will get dubbed as well.
