Review: Victor and Valentino “Finding Posada”

Overview

When the titular duo desperately needs to decorate their Ofrenda shrine, they enlist the help of famous artist Jose Guadalupe Posada

Our Take

This was quite a fun episode. Usually, whenever a Spanish-themed episode involving “Day of the Dead” is out, there’s some level of education about the culture. But here it not only delves into that but also talks about a famous person who helped play a historically significant role in the holiday’s iconography by the name of Jose Guadalupe Posada (voiced by George Lopez).

Given that the two are able to access the afterlife, It makes sense that they’d come to them for help to partake in a contest. Of course, being that the two are kids, they at first don’t feel committed to Posada’s direction until much later on when things don’t exactly go their way, but manage to do something that even surprises themselves.

Overall this was a fun episode that also managed to be educational in places. George Lopez delivers a decent performance representing this famous artist in animated form while in its own unique way educating kids about Posada’s creative & artistic process that I hope generations can take something good out of it. There is a funny twist ending, but at the end of the day, the two brothers learn that it isn’t always about how flashy & cool you make something, but how much effort & care you put into honoring your heritage.
