English Dub Review: I’m Standing on a Million Lives “The Monsters Attack”

Overview:

Iu manages to use her wind magic to assault the chief. Frock stands up for Jezby. Monsters come to attack the village. Glenda and Yusuke escape the cell by busting through the roof. Kusue shows some resolve.

Our Take:

I mean they said the monsters attack and that’s exactly what they did. As far as the standoff on the bridge goes it came to a rather anticlimactic end. Iu just used some magic and knocked the chief out and the next thing I know everyone is safe on the ground. I had to rewind to make sure I didn’t miss something but I sure didn’t. A little odd but hey the plot needed to move along I guess.

In a brilliant move, I didn’t see coming Glenda just made her own escape route for her and Yusuke. She just used her ax to break through the ceiling. Yusuke was thinking a little too hard and she just did her thing. It was right when everyone else showed up too and it was hilarious.

The best moment of the episode has to go to Kusue and I can really feel some development coming. Not just from her but Yusuke too. He treats his teammates differently up until this point because he knows they can’t die essentially. Kusue offers to jump down a well knowing she will die and possibly not be able to revive if she’s drowning. She looks towards Yusuke like “This is the smart thing to do right?” calling him out for always being logical when it came to their lives. It was a really cool moment for Kusue.

After this episode, I am fairly certain Keita is played by Griffin Burns. My feelings toward the character aside he does a great job. I really don’t like Keita, Glenda has had many fewer episodes and I already like her more. I really hope they can do something to salvage his character but something tells me it isn’t going to happen. Not this cour of episodes at least, but I could be wrong.
