OUR TAKE

Well, we’re starting off the last arc of the season and…okay, I think it’s clear by now that this season is definitely not as good as the first. And this isn’t even about the totally not a sex scene, because some things just come with the territory with these harem isekai shows. You’re gonna get a lot of fanservice, you’re gonna get a lot of implied sexual scenes, you’re gonna get a lot of characters crawling all over the main protagonist like he is some sort of horny bird feeder, and so on and so forth. That is not what bothers me, at least not this time. The animation is just not good here, hard to look at during some parts, but it has definitely never gotten back up to the heights of the first season. The plot, or at least how they’re portraying it, is not really going well either. I’m glad we could check in with Alicia from last season, since she was probably one of the more interesting late additions, but she didn’t really seem to add much other than being up to her same old gig of wishing the human race would die. And hey, right there with you in the year 2021, girl, but not like this.

As for how everyone else is holding up, Rem and Shera continue to just sort of be there, Horn seems to be getting some set up to develop more if the scene regarding the collar is anything to go by and will probably redeem her running away by rescuing everyone in the end, and considering this is the culmination of Lumachina’s whole story arc, it makes sense that she’s front and center here. Rose, meanwhile, continues to not really add all that much in terms of substance, but that’s no surprise at this point. Also, whose bright idea was it to put the peppy EDM ending song for the closing scene of the group being forcibly imprisoned? You go back and watch that scene and tell me that music fits with that mood. I’m so very glad that we only have two episodes left of this to cover, but having seen those ahead of time, I can tell you that things are really not on the side of getting better. May Diablo have mercy on my soul, but I’m hoping that “Omega” subtitle is a sign that we are done with this show.
