English Dub Review: So I’m a Spider, So What? “This isn’t my fault, is it?”

Overview

The Mother-Spider has been defeated, and Spider-Lady flees from Ariel into Keren County. But, unexpected guests keep arriving, one after another. One of them is from the Kingdom of Ohts, and is after her power. The other is a completely different Administrator by the name of “Güliedistodiez”.

Our Take

This almost feels like a cat and mouse game for Spider-Lady. No doubt, Ariel is the biggest threat in her life. It also looks like Spider-Lady’s popularity is showing no signs of stopping but also becomes a target by almost everyone. I’m also not sure how I feel about this “Güliedistodiez” character (For the purposes of making this less confusing, we will call him “Administrator G”) but it might not be a bad idea to become his ally rather than an enemy.

As for the human side, we also get a bit of backstory with their mentor who surprisingly has an actual history with both the Spider-Lady and the Isekai high school characters the show keeps forcing it’s the audience to be invested in and tries to frame her as sympathetic, but I certainly do not sympathize with the individual at all, especially when said character does ethically dubious and moronic things, mostly acting like a child when she should be an adult, and even her desire to keep the class alive doesn’t make any sense when she, and all the kids, act like a harem comedy in the face of life-threatening scenarios.

Overall, while we’re definitely starting to move towards the finale of the season, I’m left slightly confused with the events this episode though. First, we see that Spider-Lady’s actions may have indirectly started a war between two countries. However, the post-credit scene seems to be about the war in the present. It makes me assume they are connected in some way. I just wonder which war they are gonna focus on first as I’d love for the two timelines to connect already just for the sake of a cohesive narrative.
