CANNES: Eddie Alcazar’s “The Vandal” To Be Adapted Into A Feature-Length

Any chance to write about any of the original cast members for one of the great films of all time, Predator, I’m going to take it. In this case it’s the legendary Bill Duke who is stars in a new Cannes short entitled The Vandal. A live-action/stop-motion short not unlike the type of stuff we used to see from Adult Swim’s A Shivering Truth, this one comes from Eddie Alcazar and now features Steve Soderbergh jumping on board to help produce a feature-length.

According to Variety who first broke the story, The Vandal is set in a world not unlike mid-20th century America, Duke (“Mandy,” “Predator”) stars in the film as Harold, whose tormented search for peace from traumatic loss results in an unexpectedly destructive awakening after he undergoes a lobotomy. When the procedure “turns his mind inside out” and his great love is suddenly gone, Harold’s search intensifies.

Our Take

Shudder could be the underdog here in a potential pick up, but anything with Soderbergh’s name on it will at least get a sniff fro all of the major streamers.
