English Dub Review: Cells at Work: Code Black “Desperation, Gout, and Rebellion”

Overview:

RBC blames himself for his friend’s death. He even asks to be processed out but the head cell refuses. Gout crops up in the big toe and WBC has a hard time stopping it. RBC freaks out and luckily WBC seems to have pulled him back to his senses.

Our Take:

Just exercise damn it!!! I feel like this show has singlehandedly got me motivated to do more exercise. I never thought of how my poor cells must feel dealing with those three lattes I had. Well just have to do our best moving forward I suppose.

RBC is not doing so well and after losing his friend who can blame him? He ran into one lady who was talking about how she hasn’t seen the other guy in a while. Which of course made RBC feel worse since he blames himself for his friend’s death. The body is only getting worse and RBC has had enough.

Gout has shown up and the cells have never seen anything like it before. The memory cell has no clue how to stop it. WBC and the Macrophages can’t do any damage to it either. This lead to a pretty powerful moment for both RBC and WBC.

RBC shows up and starts going on a huge rant about how the body needs to start taking better care of itself. Stop smoking and drinking so much. Do some damn exercise! Eventually, WBC hugs RBC to get him to stop. She understands, everyone around understands but screaming isn’t going to help. It was just a nice moment to see her show some emotion for once. With one episode left, I am giving up on her ever getting development though. This was okay but not enough in my opinion.

The story is good and enjoyable but I am interested to see how it ends. Cells at Work got a second season so I am curious if this will. It was a decent episode but far from the best, I think it will end decently though.
