English Dub Review: Black Clover “Vice-Captain Langris Vaude”

Overview

Rumors spread that Yuno will soon replace Langris as Vice-Captain of the Golden Dawn. Langris speaks with Finnes and learns Finral is still training to make her happy. Langris requests a duel with Yuno, now they are of equal rank, and wagers the loser must quit the Golden Dawn…

Our Take

The fight between Yuno and Langris was nice to watch and I also think if Langris fought seriously from the beginning it could have ended differently. However, I do understand the fact that this was in anticipation of the upcoming spade kingdom storyline which will be coming shortly. Langris is seen to become an interesting character.

Another point, which has to do with the series in general. Only about a couple of squads actually have lots of members with fleshed-out episodes or storylines (or ones that they at least show off). Black Bulls, Golden Dawn, Blue Rose, Crimson Lions, and Purple Orcas. The other squads have 1-2 people that are just thrown in the rest, it doesn’t feel equal or leave you wondering if they’ll be a pay-off to seeing their hardships or achievements play out.

Overall, for the final episode of Season 3, a good deal of the story was focused on the Golden Dawn. Obviously, cutting to the chase is Yuno’s forte, and the difference is stated in power and seriousness. With the recent announcement of Season 4 English Dub coming to Toonami, this show is far from over.
