Review: The Casagrandes “A Very Casagrandes Christmas”

Overview

Ronnie Anne is excited for the perfect Christmas, but visits from multiple neighbors throughout the series put her dream Nochebuena on hold…

Our Take

Ronnie at first has high expectations in terms of Christmas plans when it comes to her family celebrating the Holiday of “Nochebuena” which is basically a traditonal Hispanic holiday that takes place on Christmas Eve. However due to a series of contrived comedic mishaps, things don’t exactly go Ronnie’s way when all of it comes to an abrupt halt but as she attempts to fix everyone’s reasons for being stuck, progressively things take an unexpected direction when she realizes that sometimes the best Christmas moments can be the most unexpected ones.

Overall, for a holiday special that devotes itself to an entire half-hour, this conveyed that meaningful message properly. While it also doesn’t help how forced the conflict felt just to add an unneeded obstacle or two for the sake of tension, It at least balanced itself out with random jokes and character moments that excel for the holidays. Also, the ending was a fun surprise too.
