Our Take

Another great episode, this time focusing on Momiji. His sister, Momo, really wants him to be his big brother. I have to say some of the parents of the Zodiacs are just fucked up in the head… Tohru also had a really nice interaction with Kureno at the estate, I love how pure and lovable she is by putting herself at risk of getting caught, while chasing someone else’s joy, because that individual is so dear to her. I mean she came to terms with the fact that she possibly would get arrested. This girl man, everyone needs a friend like this. Also, Kureno ain’t forgotten too, being a slave for Akito and forced to never leave and never interact with people. It’s also easy to share the hopelessness Tohru is feeling right now, trying your best to wish for the better of those close to her, even if she knows things potentially won’t work out struck a chord with me…

Overall, Tohru’s kind and caring nature are traits that make her such a good and reliable person, but that is also a double-edged sword that can really bring her down. She cares for other people a bit too much to the point that she ignores her own needs/problems, while Momiji is so full of love and caring for those around him, it’s bullshit with the way his family has shunned him and makes him feel responsible for the happiness of others coming at the cost of the absence of himself. How he still can be so loving speaks volumes of the strength and resilience of having to go through so much negligence but at the same time is quite understanding of it.
