Review: Total Dramarama “Way Back Wendel”

Overview

Courtney must deliberately lose a challenge against an old-timey kid, or let the entire world go back in time. But the idea of losing in general, is a really hard choice for her…

Our Take

While the story doesn’t really pick up until the titular “Wendel” is introduced who’s apparently a kid from an old-timey era that’s somehow still alive and preserved in a time Capsule where color is nonexistent representing the bygone era he’s from. The heart of this episode is about Courtney’s overly competitive Ego which isn’t helped by Wendel’s offensively antiquated views on women being useless and even goes as far as to call Courtney as “suffragette” which understandably gets under her skin.

There are a few funny moments, but a greater sense of urgency rears it’s ugly head when Owen and Leshawna discover what happens and attempt to persuade Courtney to simply cut her losses which during the proceedings is hilariously harder than it sounds.

Overall a decent episode, but nothing too weird outside the cliche message of learning to cut your losses.
