English Dub Anime News: Funimation ; Netflix ; AnimeNYC

AnimeNYC has been canceled. The convention has released a lengthy statement as to why, but long story short, NYC isn’t even planning on sports happening anytime soon, so the likelihood of AnimeNYC or NYCC happening in a COVID-19-laden 2020 was probably an expected outcome.

Netflix has announced a number of anime to join the streaming service’s lineup starting in September. Some highlights of original series on the way include The Induhn Chronicles and Dragon’s Dogma. Check out a teaser below for premiere dates:

 

Funimation is streaming the English dubbed adaptation of Persona 5. All 26 episodes and two films will be made exclusively on the streaming service in English dubbed format featuring the cast made famous from the classic gaming franchise. The Blu-Ray will be released on September 29th and you can watch the trailer below:

Synopsis:

Ren Amamiya is about to enter his second year of high school after transferring to Shujin Academy in Tokyo. A strange incident triggers the awakening of his Persona, and alongside his friends, he forms the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” to change the hearts of corrupt adults by stealing the source of their distorted desires. Meanwhile, cases of psychotic breakdowns have been popping up one after another… Living their ordinary high school lives in Tokyo during the day, the group stalks the bustling metropolis of Tokyo as the Phantom Thieves by night. It’s time for the curtains to rise on this grand, picaresque story!
