Amazon Orders “Fairfax” Animated Series ; Eyes “The Hospital”

With the success of 2020’s Undone and the impending premiere of other original animated series coming from Amazon, the conglomerate’s Prime streaming service is getting even more serious about adult animation and to prove it they’ve given a two-season order to a series called Fairfax and could potentially order another dark animated series called The Hospital next.

Set to premiere in 2021 on Amazon Prime is Fairfax from producers Matt Hausfater (Undateable), Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley, Serious Business, Titmouse and Amazon Studios.  The premise sees four middle-aged kids doing their best to become noticed in the hustle and bustle of LA, more specifically Fairfax Avenue where the kids are doing their best to stay up with hypebeast culture. Sixteen episodes have been ordered that will be timed at 30 minutes a piece. Somehoodlum has designed the characters while Pizzaslime will also be producing.

For The Hospital, Amazon is teaming up with Cirocco Dunlap in conjunction with Animal Pictures for series that follows two alien doctors, Sleech and Klak, who specialize in finding rare disease cures. As luck would have it, Sleech gets one, and they have to find a cure before all goes to hell.

Our Take

Fairfax sounds like an almost Legends of Chamberlain Heights replacement, which we need right now, while The Hospital continues the upswing of animated sci-fi.
