English Dub Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind: “Six Bullets Appears, Part One”

(Possible Spoilers Below)

After the defeat of Tender Machine along with its Stand User who’s name is revealed to be Mario Zucchero. As icing on the cake, it leads to a random scene where 3 of the members break into a choreographed dance number while torturing his ass. Upon interrogation and the use of Abbachio’s Moody Jazz Stand, they learn that Mario told his yet unseen contact that they were headed to Capri to retrieve Polpo’s treasure meaning that they could encounter more dangers while getting to the money. As Bruno took a long curve to avoid being seen directly heading towards Capri, the group expects to fight another enemy on the island, but Giorno proposes to get towards the island first and be two-steps ahead by seeking out their foe with Guido agreeing to tag along.

As they get to the island first to intercept their foe, it’s here when we learn about Guido Mista’s Stand “Six-Bullets” which in terms of appearances they’re pretty damn unique as they resemble weirdly deformed cartoon bullet people with different personalities but have the ability to redirect bullets mid-fire if properly fed and motivated. Despite having “6” in their name, the number 4 is replaced with “7” due to Guido’s superstitious attitude towards anything synonymous with the number 4 in general.

Near the marina, Giorno calls via boat-radio for the enemy through a civilian while Guido lies in wait, ready to fight. And despite a minor mishap, Mista manages to shoot him in the right leg thanks to his “Six Bullets” Stand. But as Mista pursues the enemy alone up to a starting truck, The episode ends with Giorno wondering how he’ll catch up with the two despite the small blood trail this person left behind.

Our Take

While the previous episode focused on Abbachio’s Stand, Guido’s stole the show in this episode as seeing his six-bullets in action was quite fun to watch, but the uniqueness of his stand is just mind-blowing. Not one, not two, but six fucking stands with their own personalities, relationships, and even their own secret handshake. Unlike most Stands that are tied with the user, they’re sentient and require basic necessities to properly function, such as food and sleep. It’s not like the “Harvest” or “Worst Company” Stands from Diamond is Unbreakable that took the form of a tiny army or a group yet both of those function with a hive mind.

The Animation team of “David Production” has always excelled at adapting Jojo but I feel like they’re on another level so far with Part 5. Every episode has pretty much been a banger so far, and as someone who’s still going blind into Part 5 and hasn’t read the Manga version, seeing the dance for the first time, was pretty hilarious and random, in a good way of course.
