Review: Aroha Bridge “Mind Ya Business “

Overview (Spoilers Below)

What’s with these library card fees? This week, the twins have to pay back some overdue library card fees and they meet a loan shark who is willing to help them out in exchange for an exorbitant return. After a bit of harassment from the shady financier, Dad Hook pays off the debt in exchange for their services at his shop which goes so well he nearly wins a minority-small business award in the process. The winner? His brother’s even smaller and shadier business.

Our Take

A very similar premise to South Park’s “Margaritaville” episode but not one that is talked about enough. The corruption of the financial industry is very real, and it’s interesting to see that NZers feel a similar way about it as we do here in America. That said, Aroha Bridge continues to flesh out all of the shady business practices of its locals which seems to be every week. You would think I would be bored of shady businesses by now, but it’s a bit MORE fascinating on how just everyone is trying to make a buck and survive regardless of the way they are doing it. All the while giving me giggle fits in the process.
