While reporting on the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Argentinian TV network, Cronica TV, announced the arrival with a picture of “Apu”. For some reason or another, this has caused claims of racism by viewers while others deem it as a joke. All this in the same year as the debut of The Problem with Apu documentary that had launched similar claims of “Apu” being a character with racist intent while most fans of The Simpsons seem to disagree.
Our Take
The ironic thing about this bit. A week ago, Cronica had broadcast a guy killing himself on live television, but somehow Apu is equated to being racist and THAT’S what gets all the coverage?
Just cancel this bird already. The chicken is beyond cooked. It's burnt to a crisp.
