Review: Mike Tyson Mysteries “The Pigeon Has Come to Roost”

Plot twists abound and a potential soft reboot? All this and more on the Mike Tyson Mysteries season finale!

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The Mike Tyson Mysteries crew put Deezy through a rather elaborate scenario involving Pigeon faking his own death to get out of trouble with a drug cartel so that they can welcome the one-time agent as a new member of the team…or the new Strike Team!

Our Take

Is it possible that MIke Tyson Mysteries could be getting a bit of a soft reboot? It appears that way, and this show can really use it. As much as I like the current series, after 60 episodes, a refresh couldn’t hurt, especially if it means way more action sequences like the ones the end teaser was alluding to. That said, this week’s episode had some nice twists and turns right up until the very end. Pigeon’s twist premise sounded like something out of Archer Vice and I loved his supposed human counterpart that had quite the resemblance to the voice actor that dons the feathers every Sunday night. We never did get any resolution to Yung’s haircut, so I guess we’ll just have to assume she’s ok with it, but I really thought it was the end of “Richard Pigeon” as we know it.

We’ll go into more detail with a season review, but overall, this was one of the stronger seasons of Mike Tyson Mysteries. In a lot of ways, it appears the producers were purposefully wrapping up a few loose ends over the last couple of weeks to pave the way for something a bit more fun down the road and that could come to fruition if this soft reboot holds up. In the meantime, do we really want Deezy as a permanent member of the team? The team’s kinda crowded as it is as it pertains to screen time, but perhaps if more action is infused in the franchise it wouldn’t matter as much. Mike Tyson Mysteries could very well be Adult Swim’s answer to FX’s vaunted Archer franchise.
