English Dub Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes “An Indomitable Prodigy”

And now we care.

Overview (Spoilers below)

In this week’s totally streamed out of order episode, Reinhard gets promoted after being victorious, but really we get a flashback episode that tells us about the background of Reinhold and Siegfried’s upbringings and just how far back their relationship goes. We also get to see Reinhold’s reasoning for joining the military, to begin with alongside his longtime friend and how Reinhold’s sister, the beautiful Annerose, factors into everything.

Our Take

This isn’t the first time that Funimation has streamed episodes of a series out of place, but quite frankly I wouldn’t have minded seeing this episode as the series premiere so that we can get a bit more of a heavy weight on the viewers’ minds on why we should give a shit about Reinhold and Siegfried to begin with. THIS episode perfectly does that for me and now I actually care about their future prospects in the grand war that is going on. Quite frankly, this is one of the better flashback episodes I’ve seen of an anime this Spring season.
