By John Schwarz

August 04, 2017

We showed you guys all of the TBS sneak peeks from Comic Con over a week ago for all of the upcoming animated comedies coming in the 2017-2018 season. Now let’s dig into the trailers and try and uncover plot points, character details, and a whole lot more. Today, we look at the sneak peek that was posted on a couple of weeks ago for Tarantula, let’s tear it apart, and show you it’s insides.

Lead character Echo Johnson is voiced by show creator Carson D. Mell. In the Tarantula web series, Echo is typically seen in his hotel so fans should love the choice of a wide open environment being the first couple of scenes of the TV animated series. This means that the producers are willing to “get out of the house” as it were and allow the characters to stretch their leagues which is good. Already, the Disney series Hotel Transylvania is running out of ideas for funny hotel premises and it’s good to see this show kind of think outside the box of its setting.

Already, the background designs look gorgeous.

Meet “Booty”. Not much is known about this character as I don’t recall him from the web series, even after re-watching all of the episodes. That said, Booty provides for a funny yet different approach to being an overweight dude in cartoons. While most fat guys like Peter, Homer, and others usually are proud of their physique, Booty seems to be a bit more bashful about his appearance.

The Tarantula web series had some hilarious premises about hangovers, edibles, and more tropes that we really haven’t seen all that often on television. In this scene, we clearly see the characters both trippin’ HEAVY on a giant mushroom that they are seen carrying through the woods for unknown reasons. Hope you kids love DMT jokes!
