Having returned from Island 15 safe and sound, the girls and Limeskin relay the tale of their “strategic defeat” While they thought they were fighting one monster, another arose from within it, and apparently much more powerful. Limeskin called for them all to retreat, rather than waste manpower defending an already deserted island. Chtholly isn’t comfortable with the retreat but has lived to fight another day. As they talk, the dog-girl that Willem ran into earlier returns. Her father, the mayor, is old friends with Limeskin, to the point that she calls him her uncle. Her father also has been receiving death threats from the Annihilation Knights, a group of racist terrorists dedicated to wiping out the “Disfigured” from the town. If you need a quick refresher, to them, you are a Disfigured. Remember, humans have been nearly wiped out during the wars against the beast a long time ago. They became the subject of intense hatred ever since. Her father intends to write some new laws to make it easier for the Disfigured to live in the city, and the Annihilation Knights don’t like it. The woman begs for help, but Limeskin and Willem refuse. The military is devoted to defending the floating islands from threats outside the cities. The military does not intervene in the internal matters of an island. This is out of their jurisdiction.

After rescuing the girls from a bad food vendor, and taking them to a good restaurant (owned by Pac-Man, no less), they make friends anyways. She takes them on a guided tour of the town. After a few of these stops, Willem asks her if they can go somewhere more secluded. She knows just the place. A wishing well. As she explains, numerous assailants appear, each wearing the red armbands of the Annihilation Knights. They are going to kidnap her to control the mayor! Willem, however, won’t have it. “Bang!” He says, shooting them with his… finger gun? No visible weapon, just point, and Bang! Baddies are going down left and right. He admits that he had known the Knights were going to try this and was using her as bait. She slaps him. Not only for the bait but because apparently, he touched her belly when they first met, which is a no-no to her people. As they walk, Chtholly mentions that she knows how he did it. While one hand distracted them, the other flicked coins at high-speed. Nobody ever noticed the other hand, so it looked like magic. Ah well, time for everyone to go home. They are intercepted by a bunny-man with a name from the past and asks for Willem to come with him.

The recount of the battle at Island 15 was rather good. It was full of action, and while the animation wasn’t knock-your-socks-off, it was good enough to keep you in the battle. The artwork of the backgrounds was gorgeous, which is important because that’s what the dog-girl was selling during the tour. The tour was also home to some heart-warming humor and deepening of the universe, even if it was only this corner of it. I’d like to know why there is such a stigma against the Disfigured, and I hope the story will go into it as we move along.

I think my only dislike of the episode is the thing I kinda dismissed as intentional last episode, Tiat’s voice. It hurts my ears from being so high pitched. I sometimes have difficulty understanding what Miss Lara Woodhull is saying because that voice is so high. That dings it a bit, and since it isn’t a very action-y or intense story, I only feel comfortable giving it seven finger guns out of ten.
