English Dub Review: Fuuka “Triangle!”

And no…not the instrument.

Spoilers Below

Fuuka’s new start-up band is officially getting its shit together to take over the world, but they gotta make some money first. As a result, all three members of the band head to “South Wind” Beach House which is managed by Yahagi so as to get jobs to earn some money so as to buy instruments and whatnot. Most of the episode eats up clock by getting Yuu straightened out for the gig, but we also see the budding relationship between Yuu and Fuuka grow. However, when Tama phones Yuu that she’s in the area and wants to meet up, it’s her arms in which Yuu closes the evening with which is met with shock when first revealed to Fuuka.

Our Take

There’s definitely a lot of filler this episode when you consider there should be important components of the band that still need to be put together. Additional members, what Yuu will be doing (right now, even he hasn’t a clue), and business matters, so I don’t know why we spent so much time on learning how to be wait staff. Next, it’s obvious that Yuu is a bit more attracted to Tama than Fuuka at this juncture and that’s even with Yuu getting a kiss from the young singer rather than the pop idol.

I’d like to see more about the band in the coming episodes, less about the restaurant. I will say, some gorgeous background visuals when Fuuka was doing CPR on Yuu, jaw-dropping even. Even with that, I couldn’t get over with how less confident Yuu was in this episode versus episodes prior. This time around he seems to be acting like an innocent victim of some kind whereas he used to be way more assertive and independent regardless of the situation. Odd.
