Review: The Amazing World of Gumball “The Scam”

This review has scam written allllll over it.

Spoilers Below

During a Halloween show and tell, Gumball tells the story of Gargaroth. Gargaroth was a monster that demanded an annual sacrifice until, one year, he asked to marry the king’s daughter. However, the princess rejected him due to his ugliness. In revenge, Gargaroth consumed everything around him until he was banished to the underworld. Now no one can say his name or risk summoning him back to the mortal realm. Gumball repeats Gargaroth’s name numerous times. Suddenly, items start flying around the room, scaring the rest of his classmates. It turned out to be an invisible Carrie moving everything. Gumball, Darwin, and Carrie have a plan to pretend to be ghost hunters in order to get everyone’s candy.

Gumball and Darwin dress as Ghostbusters and go around the school pretending to chase Gargaroth. Of course, Carrie helps them make it look real. The group manages to scam the whole school and get all of the candy. They head back to Gumball’s house to eat their prize. As Carrie asks Darwin if she can use his body to eat her candy, Gumball notices that something is going on at the school. Gargaroth is real and has taken over the school.

The trio heads back to the school to vanquish the monster. Carrie tells them that they have to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to send him back to the underworld. They agree to feed him all of their candy but it doesn’t work. So Carrie agrees to marry Gargaroth. Just before they can complete their wedding, Gumball gives up his last piece of candy. Gargaroth explodes and everything goes back to normal.

This was an awesome Halloween episode. The kids were up to their normal hijinks but there was a supernatural twist to it. It was also cool seeing the nods to ghost movies. Gumball was dressed as Beetlejuice when he was telling the original story then he dresses up as Ghostbusters with Darwin. I would not be disappointed if they did something similar every year.
