Fear Not, Squidbillies Ain’t Over Yet!

Phew!

Originally, we were told that season 10 of Squidbillies would contain 15 episodes, and about a week ago, it appeared that that information was false. After 7 episodes, [adult swim] is calling “Greener Pastor” the summer finale. I think I can clarify what is going on.

Some networks try to pull a fast one over the viewer. They cut a full length season into two smaller seasons. They do this by either taking half of the episodes and calling it “season x” and then later, air the second half, calling it “season x+1.” The other way, that I prefer, because it’s at least honest, is denoting the first half as “season xa” and the second half with “season xb.” AMC does this with The Walking Dead by airing about 8 episodes in October, November, and sometimes early December, and then airing the other 8 episodes, starting in February of the next year.

So while season 10 was supposed to be 15 episodes, it may still be. These 7 episodes may constitute season 10a and the other 8 may be 10b. Or we get 7 episodes for season 10 and 8 for season 11; either way, I’m just glad that it ain’t over just yet.

Now, where is my proof? Shawn Coleman, the sound designer for Squidbillies sent out the following tweet: “Cool pastor accepts God’s test of Early Cuyler in Squids summer season finale! Jimmy Cliff provides particularly eerie theme.” The key phrase here is “summer season finale.” Had it just been the season finale, he’d have just been general in his description. But no! He said “summer.” If that wasn’t proof enough, Dave Willis, the co-creator of the show, responded to tweet and said “And we’ll be back for Halloween!” That is confirmation- the nail in the coffin. So call it whatever you want: season 10 + 11, or a and b. Whatever you decide to call it, we have more Squids coming in the near future.
