Review: Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitsu “Wishmasters”

When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires, will come to you…

Spoilers Below

The last remaining Ninja dare to infiltrate the pirate ship to save Jay and get rid of Nadakhan once and for all, using movie magic. Kevin and Dan suggest that the 3 ninja disguise themselves as Sky Pirates so as to get the poison on Misfortune’s Keep, and pass undetected by speaking pirate (except Lloyd). They start building a Raid Zeppelin, the blueprint Jay wrote his message on. The ninja set off and Cole climbs on board like he’s half drunk, but is able to disappear while walking across the deck making his way to the drinks section. Cole finds Jay with the latter wondering why Cole is dressed like a pirate in the first place before the two apologize and bury the hatchet over their past differences.

Nadakhan learns that Jay has escaped, but the Ninja end up leaving the venom behind in an apparent rush. The two are caught along with Lloyd and Nya, but Nya is invited by Nadakhan to have a similar sit down meal as Jay did on the last episode. Nya wants nothing to do with it, and the two start arguing over whether or not they should get married to each other. Eventually, a bunch of wishes go awry, and both Cole and Lloyd get put into Nadakhan’s sword leaving Jay and Nya to make the escape.

Our Take

This episode is the first that sees the rather strong foundation that Nadakhan has set up begin to crumble. Flintlocke and Clancee may be showing signs of turning on their leader, but with two more Ninjago caught, Nadakhan’s as powerful as ever. It will be interesting to see how the Ninjago refill the ranks with most of the team gone, but if that wish battle is any indication, we should expect one hell of a throwdown.
